When to consider Vaginoplasty?
  • Cosmetic reasons: Vaginal laxity or scaring may cause gaping and disfigurement.
  • Functional reasons: Difficulty holding tampons, popping sounds with exercise, discomfort.
  • Sexual reasons: Decreased sensation and pleasure, Sexual dysfunction.

Studies show that 80% to 90% of patients experience an improvement in their sexual life after surgery. Vaginoplasty increase friction and enhance sexual sensation. The improvement in the aesthetic appearance enhances self-confidence resulting in increased libido.

Difference between Vaginoplasty Vs. Non-surgical options?

Vaginoplasty involves tightening of the vaginal muscles and removal of scarring and excess tissues. It is a same day procedure and can be done under local Anesthesia or sedation but still has some down time. However, this is the most effective way for vaginal rejuvenation and gives long lasting results.

Vaginal Laser or ThermiVa Radiofrequency work by heating the tissues and promoting collagen formation making the tissues firmer. They work great for mild vaginal laxity but will not help with more severe cases as they do not tighten the muscles. Sometimes we use them with Vaginoplasty to tighten the mucosa further and help with lubrication.

What are the risks of Vaginoplasty?

Risks may include bleeding, infection, hematoma formation, loss of sensation, scarring, and painful intercourse.

What is the recovery like after Vaginoplasty?

Patients may have one to two weeks of down time. Most patients return to work within a week. Complete recovery is expected after 6 weeks.

You may feel pain or achiness after the surgery, you will be prescribed pain medications to help you through the first few days.

You may have mild bleeding, bruising, or swelling. These usually resolve within a week.

No smoking for at least a month after surgery as it delays the healing process.

No sternuous activity, exercise, or bath for 6 weeks.

No tampons or intercourse for at least 8 weeks.

Depending on the amount of tightening performed, some patients may be instructed to use dilators.

How much does Vaginoplasty cost?

Vaginoplasty surgery typically costs between $7,000 - $9,000 depending on the degree of vaginal laxity, the complexity of the procedure, the surgeon's experience, and whether you will do it at the office under local anesthesia or at the surgical center under sedation. Dr. Elshoreya will give you a more accurate estimate once he examines you and determines what is needed to be done.

Since Vaginoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that is not covered by insurance, we offer financial options to help you pay on your own pace. No interest fee if you pay it over 6 months.
